Winter Greens

I harvested my first batch of grow-light greens. The labels I put on the pots of greens eroded to illegibility, but I'm reasonably sure this is some kind of lettuce. I eat them roots and all... So the cycle continues...

Decemberween Wisps...

Six days to Decemberween, and the will-o'-the-wisps have already made their appearance outside the Sittall trailer. After two weeks of sub-freezing temperatures, the weather turned balmy, and I was finally able to venture outside for filming. The wisps usually show up on the 25th of December, but the first time I saw them in Lopstick was several years ago in February. I was with my cousin at the abandoned tannery. Saint Valentine's Day, as I recall. That night my cousin and her girls disappeared into a late winter rainstorm, and Mister Sittall became one with the compost pile... what blessing will befall Lopstick tonight?

How Not to Die Dessert

I iterate that Dr. Greger says it's a good idea to not die, and again, I agree. In exchange for sharing this awesome idea, I received a 2018 calendar with Greger-approved, life-loving, cruelty-free vegan recipes. From "The How Not to Die Cookbook Calendar," I present (my attempt at)... Berry Chocolate Chia Pudding 1/2 avocado 1 1/4 C berries (such as raspberries) 3 T 100% pure cocoa / cacao powder 2 T almond butter 1 1/2 C almond milk date syrup: Fill a measuring cup with 1/2 C of Medjool dates, chopped to remove pits. Add water to fill to the 2 cup mark. Add 1 t lemon juice. Dump into a whir machine and whir. NOTE: This makes 2 C date syrup; the recipe calls for 1/2 C. 1/4 C chia seeds opti
